Create an Instagram direct message link (ig.me)
Type your username and get a link that opens the chat with you on Instagram directly, or a clean link to your profile. Ideal for your bio, your website and your ads.
Everything is generated in your browser. We don't store phone numbers, emails or messages on any server.
How to use the generator in 3 steps
Type your Instagram username
Without the @. You can also paste your profile URL and QLinky extracts the name.
Choose the link type
Direct message (ig.me/m/) to open the chat, or profile to take people to your account.
Copy the link and share it
Paste it on your website, in an email, on WhatsApp, in an ad or in a QR code.
The two types of Instagram link
Instagram has two very useful link formats and QLinky generates both:
- Direct message:
https://ig.me/m/USERNAME. When opened, Instagram starts a chat with that account, without the person having to search for it or visit the profile first. - Profile:
https://www.instagram.com/USERNAME/. It goes straight to your account and is shorter and cleaner than copying the address from the browser.
An Instagram username can have up to 30 characters and uses letters, numbers, periods and underscores.
Where you can use your Instagram link
- Website and online store: a “Message us on Instagram” button that opens the chat in one tap.
- Email signature and email campaigns: offer another contact channel besides email.
- WhatsApp, Telegram and other messages: share your profile or your chat without asking people to search for you.
- Ads and printed material: turn it into a QR code for cards, menus and shop windows.
Tips and limits
- Instagram doesn't offer an official parameter to pre-fill the message. The chat opens empty, so it helps to say in the button or the ad what the person should write.
- Messages from accounts you don't follow may arrive as requests. Check your requests folder often.
- Your account must allow messages according to your privacy settings. If they are restricted, the link opens the chat but may not let the person write.
- Test the link with another account and on a phone before publishing it.
Where Instagram allows links (and where it doesn't)
- Profile: yes, in Edit profile, Links section. You can add several.
- Stories: yes, with the “Link” sticker.
- Direct messages: yes, any URL you send can be tapped.
- Bio text, post captions and comments: no. The address shows as text, but it can't be tapped.
