How to use the generator in 3 steps

1

Type the address or the place

You can use a full address, the name of a business with its city, or coordinates.

2

Generate the link

QLinky builds an official Google Maps search URL with that address.

3

Copy it and share it

Whoever opens it will see the place in Google Maps and can get directions with one tap.

How a Google Maps location link works

Google Maps offers an official URL format to open a search or a place: https://www.google.com/maps/search/?api=1&query=ADDRESS. The address is URL-encoded, which QLinky does for you.

Examples of what you can type in the search field:

On a phone the link usually opens the Google Maps app; on a computer it opens Google Maps in the browser.

Showing a place or taking someone there

This generator creates a search link: it opens Maps showing the place. If what you need is for the person to see directions from where they are, the format is different:

https://www.google.com/maps/dir/?api=1&destination=Av.%20Reforma%20222%2C%20Ciudad%20de%20M%C3%A9xico

And if your business already has a Google listing, the short link from the Maps “Share” button points to that listing, with photos, opening hours and reviews. The Google Maps links guide compares the four formats.

Frequently asked questions

How do I create a Google Maps link with an address?

Type the address or the name of the place in the box and press “Generate location link”. You'll get a Google Maps URL that you can copy and share on WhatsApp, by email or on your website.

Can I use coordinates instead of an address?

Yes. Type the latitude and longitude separated by a comma, for example 19.4326,-99.1332, and the link will point to that exact spot.

Does the link work on a phone?

Yes. On Android and iPhone it usually opens the Google Maps app, and if it isn't installed, it opens Google Maps in the browser.

Is it the same as sharing my live location?

No. This link points to a fixed place (an address or a business). It doesn't show where you are right now.

Why does the link show a different place from the one I wanted?

It usually happens when the address is ambiguous. Add the city and country, type the full business name or use coordinates for more precision.

Does QLinky store the address I type?

No. The link is generated in your browser and the address is not sent to or stored on any server.
